A few months ago—before Covid-19 had reared its ugly head—David and I rose on a Sunday morning, and over the breakfast table, David asked, “Well, should we go to church today?”
We both burst out laughing.
You see, attending church is not a decision we make weekly.
We need our church family. We need to see each other’s faces, each other’s smiles and tears. Zoom was a great stopgap measure, but each of us need person-to-person contact. The Bible tells us that the early Christians met together daily “in the Temple courts and from house to house,” proclaiming the Good News.
Now that in-person, live-church-services, while wearing masks are permitted, we can’t allow the comforts of our home or even laziness to overrule this need to get together in worship.
I admit that it was easier to attend on Zoom. I didn’t have to get showered and fully dressed, including shoes. But that first Sunday back in the church building, well, the worship was just different! We were together!
If you haven’t been back yet, don’t just take my word for it, come and experience it for yourself.
We’ve missed you.
